MOUNTAIN BIKING

Mountain Biking on the XC course

For those who like more challenging cycling, Cotton Wood is conveniently well placed for some of the best mountain biking in the south west. Cotton Wood alone has a 3.6 kilometer XC (Cross Country) loop which doesn’t even take you off site!

The Lodge is only 400 meters away from the well renowned Grogley Downhill lines, the most exciting downhill course in the county. Be warned, this is not for the faint-hearted and certainly not for novices.

Grogley’s neighboring forests of Hustyn’s and Bishopswood provide more XC riding adventures with numerous trails. Let one of our qualified mountain bike guides lead you on a route that eliminates the risk of missing the best trails and takes you on routes that require little or no road sections, keeping to the spirit of freeride mountain biking.

Cardinham Woods, and Lanhydrock Cycle Hub are both under 5 miles away and collectively have over 25kilometers of graded MTB  trails. These are, no doubt, some of the finest purpose built trials in the country on par with trail centers commonly found in Scotland and Wales.

Cardinham Woods offers a great day out for non-mountain bikers in the family too. There are plenty of walking trails to choose from, seasonal events, play area and with a tempting café and spacious barbeque and picnic area, you can really make a day of it. Cardinham Woods is owned and managed by the Forestry Commission.
